This is a small selection of past events that I'd like to share with you.
Anton du Beke & Sandy
An evening with Anton and Erin (from Strictly Come Dancing)
I provided sound and lighting for a demonstration by Anton du Beke and Erin
Boag.
Extra lighting was hired in to provide sophisticated colour wash for the
large arena and Anton and Erin's breathtaking demonstration.
After a show stopping performance, the 400+ guests waltzed the night away to
some classic ballroom tracks.
Wedding Ceremony
Wellington, New Zealand - Wedding Master of Ceremonies
In April 2008, Sandy Sounds went international!
I spent a week in the awesome city of Wellington, working closely and being
mentored by an experienced wedding MC, culminating in a wedding whereby we
provided all day and evening entertainment.
City Hotel
Wedding Entertainment - a memorable day
Larry and Nicola booked my services for the entire day at the City Hotel. A
small system was placed in the reception room and the main system was set up
in the main function room which was playing host to the wedding breakfast
and evening entertainment. Guests arrived for the ceremony to the sound of
soft background music.
After the ceremony the guests had a two hour wait in the reception area
while the wedding party had the official photographs at another location. I
entertained the guests with background music and an activity which involved
them creating a page about their memories of the couple. These were compiled
into an attractive album to be presented during speeches. The younger guests
were encouraged to draw pictures of the couple which were also added to the
album.
After guests were seated for the wedding breakfast, I introduced each member
of the wedding party with a carefully chosen, suitable, and amusing piece of
music for each. Back ground music was provided during the meal along with
radio microphones for the speeches which were heard by everyone in the large
function room.
As requested, the evening entertainment was a lively mix of music from all
decades, including a good helping of rock classics, and an entertaining and
light-hearted karaoke session.
Ulster reform Club
40th birthday party disco, games and karaoke
Mandy’s remit was "do anything you want just ensure it is a party to
remember and everyone enjoys themselves" …so I did. The venue was a large
function room so required four large speakers and full lighting rig that
included scanners, lasers, moving heads and smoke machine. We kicked off the
evening with a welcome, singing happy birthday and a game of ‘play your
cards right’ where everyone could participate. After dancing to some 80s
disco classics, we had an hour of fun karaoke.
The evening continued with lively dancing to more modern tunes from Sandy
Sounds Roadshow and more silly games including my infamous string and spoon
game and getting all the gentleman on the dance floor to do their own thing
to ‘You can leave your hat on’ (from the film The Full Monty). What a party!
Clandeboye Lodge Hotel
Product Launch - Disco Roadshow and DJ for shop opening
I was asked to provide all day music in a new clothes shop being opened by the well known ladies fashion chain MKone. As well as playing a mixture of music to suit all ages, I was responsible for call outs with promotions… and of course having fun with the shoppers!
At one point there was a line of both cashiers and customers sitting on the floor doing the actions to ‘oops upside your head’. Call me today to see how I can make your product launch a really special event!

Marks and Spencer - Annual Dinner Dance
Background music was provided during dinner which included tunes from the Rat Pack and other swing classics. The evening entertainment kicked off with an amusing awards ceremony. For each award, from the sublime to the ridiculous, I played an appropriate piece of music for the recipient to walk up and collect their trophy. The dance floor filled quickly and a lively night followed of dancing to a range of music from rock& roll to R&B.
Community Event - Christmas Party Music and Karaoke
Crow Hill Community Centre engaged my services for their first ever family
Christmas party. The age range really was 9 months old to 90! My remit was
to pull a troubled community together to enjoy themselves and cater for the
vast age range. The evening included balloon modelling and party games for
the little guys, karaoke for all, and dance music to suit all tastes. I
provided sound effects for the guest of honour’s entrance (Father Christmas)
and compered the fancy dress competition and the raffle. A wonderful time
was had by all.
Crom Castle, Co Fermanagh
Black Tie Dinner Dance Music
New Years Eve at De Vere Belton Woods Hotel. I provided background music
during the dinner with subtle and sophisticated lighting pointing at the
ceiling to give atmosphere. When the party kicked off, the lighting was
changed to give a party feel to the occasion.
During coffee, I spoke to some of the guests asking them what type of music
they would like to hear and dance to. One gentleman laughed and said ‘its
all right dear, you won’t have what I like… traditional Irish Folk’. During
the night I played ‘Black Velvet Band’…and made his night! At five minutes
to twelve I displayed a video countdown on a screen taking us into 2008. The
dance floor was full till 2am, with very few guests leaving early!
